Andrew first started painting in the 70’s after coming to Australia from his home country Canada where he taught high school biology. He has a BSc in biology, so he joined a volunteer organisation called the Scientific Expedition Group that does biological surveys in remote SA. During these surveys he sketches and photographs rare plants, animals and geology in remote parts of South Australia. He is a landscape painter and graphic artist capturing scenes from around South Australia to record the fast disappearing images found in nature. He uses impressionistic aspects to his paintings. To make his art fresh, Andrew uses digital photography as a memory tool then paints in oils in his studio.
