Michelle Lee

Michelle Lee (b.1981) is a Hong Kong born visual artist who is based in Adelaide, South Australia. Her colourful, mixed media paintings are a response to and conversation with the sensual wonders of the inner and outer world; be it intense moments or every-day experiences. Lee’s work is very much process driven, and focuses on the journey and discoveries made along the way. Concepts are portrayed through abstraction and semi recognisable forms, framing instances that could go unnoticed. She is enchanted by colour relationships and uses the process of layering paint, abstract illustrations, spatial relationships and mark-making repetitively, intuitively, and meditatively; creating multiple layers and complex meanings; hence her art practice has become a point for spiritual awareness, intuition, self exploration and gentle inner soul work.
